The Relais Il Chiostro di Pienza is located in the historic centre of Pienza, a small architectural marvel built by the will of Pope Pius II Piccolomini and made unique by Bernardo Rossellino; over the years it has been the set of films and advertising campaigns for its unique beauty. It is the perfect location for relaxing breaks immersed in nature, art and history, plus the internationally-renowned culinary and wine industry. Pienza is also a great starting point for excursions throughout the Val d’Orcia, the Crete Senesi and the area of Mount Amiata, both for people with cars and also those who prefer motorbikes, bicycles or walking and trekking.
We recommend our guests to visit the nearby locations of Pieve di Corsignano and Sant’Anna in Camprena in addition to the marvellous Abbey of Sant’Antimo. Driving through winding roads full of breath-taking views (ideal for great photo opportunities) in a few kilometres you can reach San Quirico D’Orcia, or Montalcino, where you can take the opportunity to sample the famous Brunello, or Montepulciano, renowned for its red wine, or the hamlets of Mount Amiata, or the thermal bath centres of Bagni San Filippo and San Casciano dei Bagni. With less than an hour’s drive, you can reach Siena, a medieval jewel, famous for its fascinating horse-race, the Palio, which takes place in the magnificent Piazza del Campo.
